Introduction to 7075 aluminum bar

 

7075 aluminum bar is an Al-Zn-Mg-Cu super-hard aluminum alloy (GB/T 3191), containing 5.6% Zn, 2.5% Mg and 1.6% Cu, with a tensile strength of ≥560MPa in T6 state and a hardness of HB≥150. It has the highest specific strength among aluminum alloys. Its characteristics include: ultra-high load-bearing capacity, excellent fatigue resistance, but weak corrosion resistance (surface protection required). It is specially used in extreme load-bearing scenarios such as aviation landing gear, missile shells, and racing car drive shafts. During processing, attention should be paid to the tendency of stress cracking. It is recommended to strengthen after solid solution (O) forming.

As an aviation-grade aluminum alloy, 7075 aluminum rod has ultra-high strength (tensile strength ≥ 524MPa), comparable to many steels. Its excellent specific strength (strength/density ratio) reaches 164MPa·cm³/g, which is twice that of ordinary aluminum alloys. At the same time, it has good stress corrosion resistance (passed the EXCO test), and the hardness can reach HRB87 after heat treatment, and the elongation is maintained at 5-11%. The unique Zn-Mg-Cu formula increases its fatigue strength by 35% compared with 6061 alloy, making it the preferred material in the aerospace field.
