The rusting time of galvanized pipes is mainly related to factors such as the galvanizing method, the thickness of the galvanized layer, the amount of galvanizing, and the usage environment. Generally, cold galvanized pipes rust relatively quickly.
The galvanizing weight of cold-galvanized steel pipes is relatively low. Moreover, this type of galvanized pipe is only galvanized on the outside, while the inside is not. The zinc coating weight on one side is approximately 20g/㎡, making it more prone to rust. Under normal usage conditions, cold-galvanized steel pipes will start to rust approximately one year later. If the thickness is relatively thick, the rusting time will be prolonged. Those under 2.75mm can last for 2 to 3 years, while those over 3.0mm can last for 3 to 5 years.
